Itinerary
October 30, 2025 (T) – depart Australia for the USA
Pack your bags, grab your passport, and head to the airport – we are heading to the USA!
October 30, 2025 (T) – Arrival Day
Arrive in Los Angeles, check into hotel in Anaheim, rest. In the afternoon we will get in the Halloween spirit while we participate in a Halloween hats/mask creation workshop. We will end our day with dinner with JPL engineers at a local restaurant.
October 31, 2025 (W) – Space Science in California
Today we will visit the California Science Center, participate in an education workshop, and tour the facility. If Shuttle Endeavour is on display in her new home, we will be able to see her. After the Science Center we will return to Anaheim for dinner at fun local restaurant.
November 1, 2025 (TH) – La Brea Tar Pits and Griffith Observatory
An exciting day where we have a special guided tour of the La Brea Tar Pits and Museum. La Brea Tar Pits is an active paleontological research site in urban Los Angeles. Hancock Park was formed around a group of tar pits where natural asphalt has seeped up from the ground for tens of thousands of years. Over many centuries, the bones of trapped animals have been preserved. By comparing scientific research and information to other locations globally and even into space – we can make meaning from our world.
Griffith Observatory is southern California’s gateway to the cosmos! Visitors may look through telescopes, explore exhibits, see live shows in the Samuel Oschin Planetarium, and enjoy spectacular views of Los Angeles and the Hollywood Sign.
November 2, 2025 (F) – International Collaborative Learning
Join members of One Giant Leap Australia’s US Advisory Team as we share a day of STEM and cross-cultural exploration with a US classroom. We will interact with American students as we plant seeds that have flown in Zero G environments. Meet new friends in the US and learn about how students in the US and Australia share the same dreams. After, we will visit a local tide pool environment, tides permitting. Low Tide is at 3:54pm. That should work well for tide pools.
November 3, 2025 (Sat) – The House the Walt Built
Spend the day at the original Disneyland Park. First opened in 1955, Disneyland is the original Disney Theme Park. Fly over London with Peter Pan, soar through space on Space Mountain, explore international cultures on Small World, pilot the Millennium Falcon in Star Wars Land, and meet your favourite Disney Characters as we explore the park.
November 4, 2025 (Sun) – Space Camp here we come!
An early departure from Anaheim will take us to the airport where we will board our flights for Huntsville, Alabama. Arrive in time for check in and dinner.
November 4-9, 2025 (Sun-F) – Space Camp USA
Our 5-day adventure at Space Camp will begin with dinner and orientation on Sunday evening. Then get some sleep as we will be up early for Day 1 of Space Camp USA.
