Meet our Trailblazers

These students are the first EOS-supported placements in One Giant Leap Australia’s Space Tour USA, and stand as the foundation for future involvement with Electro Optic Systems. Together, they’ve created ‘The Trailblazers’, a group of committed and inspiring young Australians collaborating to create the future of Australia’s STEM workforce. The Trailblazers is a vanguard in the education environment of Australia, and we will work together to create a future for all Australian youth, no matter what their dreams.

2024 Space Tour USA

2025 Kibo Robot Programming Challenge

Hopes to use this program as a way to guide and encourage other like-minded students to pursue interests in the space industry.

Eve McCarthy

Eve McCarthy

Supported to attend the 2024 USA Space Tour and the 2025 International Astronautical Congress by Electro Optic Systems, Eve hopes to evolve the Australian space industry and create a reaching impact on Australian youth. 2026 Clarence Vally Lions Youth of the Year and a speaker at the 2025 World Expo, she is already paving the way to a successful future.

Zahlia Brown

Zahlia Brown

Went to USA to attend Space Camp USA and was supported by EOS through a scholarship. Zahlia hopes to inspire younger generations to explore the opportunities in space, as well as to create a safe and supportive environment.

Angus Mann

Angus Mann

Selected for a scholarship to attend Space Tour USA 2025. Angus enjoys astronomy and is passionate about human space exploration. Angus wants to be the first Australian on Mars

Enlisted in the Australian Air Force Cadets, Angus remains highly focused on piloting and career pathways to join the RAAF, and eventually to becoming an astronaut.

Spencer Holt

Spencer Holt

Awarded the EOS One Giant Leap Scholarship to attend United States Space and Rocket Centre Space Camp Program, and later attended the 2025 IAC in Sydney. Designs, intergrates and flies high powered rockets as part of Melbourne Amatuer Rocketry Society (MARS)

Passionate about human space exploration and inpiring the next generation to dare to dream big and chase bigger. Spencer plans to work in space vehicle design in the future as a Vehicle Intergration Engineer

Ayla Eggins

Ayla Eggins

Ayla was awarded the EOS scholarship for the 2025 USA Space Camp hosted by One Giant Leap Australia. Ayla has demonstrated great leadership qualities. She was also chosen as the student mentor for the inaugural 2024 One Giant Leap Australia Western Sydney University Space Teams Academy event.

Ayla plans to support and promote events with One Giant Leap Australia and has goals of becoming a Space Educator to empower and educate youth in the future.

Ayla McGrath

Ayla McGrath

Ayla was awarded the inaugural One Giant Leap Australia Foundation Scholarship to participate in the 2025 Space Tour USA and also attended the EOS bootcamp in partnership of One Giant Leap Australia. She has graduated from the Advanced Space Academy in Huntsville, Alabama. Ayla continues to develop a love for STEAM related subjects such as rocketry and mechanics. She is a student ambassador for the 2025 Space Tour USA and wants to work in Formula One as a Mechanical engineer.

Mietta Eggins

Mietta was awarded an EOS scholarship to participate in 2025 Space Tour USA.

Refusing to be limited by her regional location, she has pursued STEAM programs to explore her interest in practical and collaborative academic environments. Through continued involvement with One Giant Leap Australia, she continues to hone her interest in real-life applications and careers in STEAM sectors.

Scarlett Gilbertson

Scarlett Gilbertson

Scarlett gained a scholarship in 2024 to attend Space Camp USA. She also participated in the Global Space Challenge 2024 and 2025, came tied for 2nd in the world for both. Scarlett wishes to be an active participant in a research project on the suitability of exoplanets to support human life.

Wilson Steinbach

Wilson Steinbach

Wilson was awarded an EOS scholarship in 2025 to attend Space Tour USA run by One Giant Leap Australia. He is a student ambassador for One Giant Leap Australia and is currently enrolled in Bankstown Flight School. Wilson wants to study aerospace engineering and astrobiology to hopefully work at a Space Agency.

Natalia Floriani

Natalia Floriani

Natalia gained a partial scholarship in 2025 from EOS to attend the Space Tour USA with One Giant Leap Australia. She attends Verity Christian Collage (VCC) in Griffith NSW and maintains high steady grades. Natalia aims to get a degree in astrophysics, astronomy to work in the field of cosmology and astrophysics.

Kyra Loft-Morrow

Kyra Loft-Morrow

Kyra attended One Giant Leap’s 2025 Space Tour USA, made possible by the EOS partial scholarship. Kyra fundraised the remaining funds through a community raffle. Her hometown is in Sunbury Victoria and she attends Salesian College Sunbury. Through academic initiatives, Kyra strives to grow her knowledge and experience, hoping to one day be employed as an aerospace engineer within a space agency.
