Mietta Eggins

My name is Mietta, and I’m a Trailblazer. Growing up in a regional community has shaped the way I approach opportunities as I’ve learned to seek them out, rather than wait for them to come to me. I am honoured to bring that mindset into this alumni group and help clear a path and collaborate to support like-minded individuals who may have to fight that little bit harder to find the pathway to their dreams

My first introduction with One Giant Leap Australia (OGL), a one-day event that opened the door to my ever growing passion for all things space. Made possible because OGL understands the importance of regional representation.

This camp facilitated the attainment of my CASA accreditation as well as assisted in personal growth in terms of confidence and teamwork. It allowed me to integrate my passions for space, science, and art through my rocket design, Van Gooooo!

I graduated from Advanced Space Academy alongside lifelong friends, while building further resilience and my ability to adapt to change under pressure. I thrived within our team who supported each other and our individual skillsets.

Thanks to the partnership of Electro Optic Systems (EOS) and One Giant Leap Australia I was included within this elite team of Future Leaders. From this opportunity stemmed the Trailblazers, a group brought together to support Australian youth.

Cryptography is a hobby of mine. I’ve enjoyed studying and deciphering both the ASIO and the ASD minted coins amongst other codes. The challenge and the natural puzzle of code deciphering is the perfect meld of my skills in mathematics, data analysis and pattern recognition.

When I’m not participating in educational activities you can find me either on the rink with my local Derby team the Coffs Coast Derby Dolls or riding around on my cherry red Vespa.
